The New York County District Attorney's Office is currently accepting applications for the 2015 High School Summer Internship Program. This rigorous six-week internship provides students with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Every intern is assigned to a unit within the DA’s Office and helps Assistant District Attorneys and other staff members with their work. Interns also attend presentations and trips and participate in a mock trial competition. Interns are paid a $150 weekly stipend. Applicants must commit to attend the entire program from July 6, 2015 - August 14, 2015, Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Saltz Interns use hands-on interactives and technologies, such as an infrared camera and digital USB microscopes, to guide visitors of all ages in investigations of artifacts and specimens. The high school students meet Museum scientists, explore scientific content, learn valuable skills for working with and teaching learners of all ages, and have an impact on the experiences of thousands of Museum visitors. The High School Summer Internship Program is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in architecture, engineering, building trades, public administration, business administration or information technology. The program is structured to enable students to gain exposure to the many careers in the built environment and to learn about what it takes to build New York City. It is a unique opportunity to prepare students for the growing demands of the job market. Assignments may include AutoCAD (computer aided design) drafting for students interested in architecture or engineering, internet research, word processing, spreadsheet creation, and other clerical work. Students work five days per week, in a six-week program that combines hands-on work and educational programming.

The Spring Scholarsprogram will offer participants a unique, behind-the-scenes experience of the exhibition. Working among a small group of like-minded peers, they will explore images, artifacts, interactives, and oral histories that tell the story of Silicon City, exploring local innovations that were key to computer development. From vacuum tubes and punched cards to transistors, they will learn about pioneering work accomplished after the 1964 World's Fair, such as the computer graphics revolution born in New York City a decade later.

What: Learning how to make television and films

DCTV is a wonderful media organization that services students from all over NYC. Our youth media training programs service students from grades 9-12th and are completely free. Students learn the basics of documentary filmmaking, including camera operation, editing skills, interviewing and media literacy. The Junior Fellows produce a series of projects including a PSA, collaborative fiction project, and a group documentary. Additionally, students in this program curate Docu-Jam, a youth documentary film festival. Graduates are eligible to apply for the Intermediate Media Fellows Program. Meal and transportation stipend, included.
