MHSHS Named in the Top 12 Non-Specialized High School's of NYC

I am honored to be the principal of a diverse school where the first line describing our community reads, "A nurturing atmosphere and plenty of individual attention..." I am proud of each of you and our team.  I used to say that we put the kids first even if we were tough on each other, but not anymore.  Today I see a community that has each other's backs.  All of us.  Students, staff, families...we are in this together.  High expectations with a lot of love and support.

Once more, I could not be more proud.

As debate rages over how to better integrate New York City’s most selective public schools, a small one run by a former Wall Street trader offers an unusual path to diversity and academic success.

At Manhattan Hunter Science High School on the Upper West Side, about half of the roughly 440 students are black or Hispanic, and most are low-income. It has become a sought-after option, with nearly 4,000 applications for 108 ninth-grade spots in the fall.

Its mission: To nurture talent among minorities underrepresented in the sciences, and help students earn college credits during high school.
