Advisory

9th Grade

9th grade advisory focuses on time management and collaboration in the MHSHS community. Students learn to check-in with the Social Work team, learn to create and plan goals for their academic journey. Students also participate in a mandatory health program that covers topics such as mental health, sexual health, nutrition and substance abuse and prevention.

10th Grade

10th grade advisory continues the groundwork established in 9th grade addressing time management, academic success and the development of interpersonal relationships. Students begin researching work, internship and program opportunities to build student resumes.

11th Grade/SAT Prep

In their 11th grade year, advisory is split between college search and job application work and SAT Prep. Students receive support on the Reading and Math sections of the SAT exam with direct and self-paced instruction. By the end of the year, students create a fleshed out list of prospective colleges and programs as they approach application season in the fall of their senior year.
